Add and manage audio files
Learn how to record, upload and organize sounds and music on hold in uContact.

This lesson covers how to add and manage audio files in uContact — the greetings, IVR prompts, announcements, after-hours messages and other pre-recorded messages callers hear. You will learn how to find Admin › Audios › Sounds, search stored recordings, record a new sound on the spot or upload one from your PC (supported format, 10 MB maximum), set the language, name and describe recordings so they are easy to find, and upload Music on Hold files.
Script: Add and Manage Audio Files in uContact
In this video, we'll learn how to add and manage audio files in uContact.
Audio files are used to provide callers with recorded information throughout the call experience. This could include greetings, IVR prompts, announcements, after-hours messages, service notifications and other pre-recorded messages. So let's get started.
From the Admin section, go to Audios, and from Audios, select Sounds. On the right-hand side are all of the stored recordings. You can search for a recording using the search bar — just type in the name of the recording.
On the left-hand side, you have two options to add more recordings: you can record on the spot, or you can upload something you've already recorded on your PC.
Record on the spot
Click the Record button and speak. Once you're done, end the recording. You can listen to it to make sure you're happy with it. If you're not, you can delete it; if you are, you can save it. In this case, we'll delete it — it's just for test purposes.
Upload from your PC
These are recordings you've already made and saved on your computer. Click Upload and find the file on your PC. Make sure the file is in a format uContact supports, and that it is no larger than 10 MB. You can also choose the language of the recording. Once you're done, click Save. It will appear on the right-hand side with the rest of the recordings.
Something to keep in mind is the title — the name of your recording. Make it descriptive so it's easy to pull up. In the description, enter everything that is said in the recording, like in this example. This makes it easier to find.
Music on hold
One more section under Audios is Music on Hold. This is exactly what the customer hears when we place them on hold. Everything saved in this section is listed on the right, and you can search for it. Here, you can only upload pre-recorded files saved on your computer: click Upload, find the recording on your computer, then save it, and it will appear on the right-hand side.
That's it. Now you know how to add a new sound, either a recording or your hold music. Thank you.
